Delete your account
Timbre, the voice notes app for Android.
Your Timbre account is the one created when you sign in with Google. You can delete it at any time, from the app or by writing to the publisher.
From the app
- Open Timbre, then Settings.
- In the Subscription section, tap “Delete my account”.
- Read what is erased and what stays, then confirm with “Delete my account”.
The app goes back to the welcome screen, signed out. Your notes stay on your phone.
Without the app
Write to support@timbrenotes.app from the email address of your Google account, or give it in your message, with “Delete my account” as the subject. The publisher deletes the account and replies when it is done.
What is erased
Right away:
- your email address, encrypted, and its fingerprint;
- the IP address from when your account was created, hashed, and your answer to the question “Help improve Timbre?”;
- the fingerprint of your Google account identifier;
- your sessions, on all your devices: none of them can use your account any more;
- the backup copy of your notes key and the previous copy, if you had created a recovery code;
- your subscription history, the minutes the publisher gave you, the operating signals and the publisher’s notifications that mention your account;
- your feedback, its comments and what you attached to it, audio files included;
- your account at RevenueCat, which manages subscriptions, and the pseudonym that linked you to it.
What stays
- on your phone: your notes, your recordings and your backups, which belong to you and are not held by the publisher;
- with the publisher, for twelve months, then erased, so that nobody can delete an account to reopen a free trial or to be refunded over and over: the fingerprint of the device where the trial was used, and those of the devices of a refunded account; if the trial was granted to you, a fingerprint of the identity of your Google account, which cannot be used to find it but recognizes the same Google account if it comes back; if your account was suspended, the same fingerprint, with the date and reason of the suspension: deleting the account does not lift the suspension;
- with the publisher, so that the accounting stays accurate: the cost lines of your processing (audio length, amount of text processed, cost), with nothing that identifies you, erased with the record of your minutes after twelve months.
None of this data can be used to find your email address, your name or the identifier of your Google account. Server backup copies erase themselves after 60 days at most. If you come back with the same Google account, you open a new, empty account; on a device that has already had its free trial, or with a Google account that has already had it, there is no new trial during those twelve months.
Your subscription
Deleting your account does not stop a subscription that is running: Google Play bills it. To stop it: Google Play, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions.
See or correct your data
